Keeping untrained kitten in the bathroom?

I just adopted an extremely malnourished stray kitten, he's maybe about 6 weeks old. He's been eating food okay, but has diarrhea and definitely isn't potty trained. I'm worried about him pooping around the house while I'm at work. Do you think it's okay to leave him in the bathroom with food, water, and litter while I'm at work?
