In most colleges, the electives are chosen by the staff and not by the students. This is because, they cannot seek a new staff every time for the elective you choose. Generally the electives chosen are papers that are of your core department and also easy ones. However, if you are given a chance to choose electives, choose papers that are of more importance but easy to learn. For example, choose management papers or choose theoretical papers of your department.
